Dr Luke Wells-Smith

BSc, GAICD

Dr Luke Wells-Smith is an equine veterinarian who specialises in foot care and the management of foot related lameness in the equine athlete. Having worked in veterinary practices around Australia – since 2012 as an integral part of the team at the Equine Podiatry and Lameness Centre in Musswellbrook, NSW – Luke recognised the growing need for expert consulting support in foot related lameness.  At the start of 2017, Luke started Motion Equine Podiatry Consulting.  His extensive knowledge and expertise in providing solutions to complex equine podiatry cases is now in high

demand with veterinarians and farriers in Australia and

internationally. Luke’s services as a consultant are also employed by veterinary hospitals, industry stakeholders and insurance companies in Australia and overseas.

Luke has a detailed interest in research and data collection relating to all aspects of the equine athlete’s performance and he continues to develop his skills and knowledge in farriery and equine veterinary science by attending foot related conferences and visiting podiatry practices both in Australia and the United States.

As a natural evolution of Motion EPC and Luke’s passion for applying objective and scientific analysis to the practical management of the equine athlete, he has created Motion Equine Centre.   Motion Equine Centre focusses on the overall management of high level equine athletes and Luke has gathered together a team of like-minded, committed and experienced consultants and assistants.  Together, they are on a quest to provide objective assessment and proactive management of the equine athlete’s overall health, fitness, gait and movement.
